VIEWING A CATTERY ( a must read)

I love my holiday at Dalkeith Cats Hotel
I love my holiday at Dalkeith Cats Hotel

AWAYS view a cattery when you are booking for the first time. A fancy advert may mask a substandard establishment. Owners who fail to view may turn up on the day of boarding to find they are very unhappy indeed at the standard of accomodation, but it is too late and they have to leave the cat, and have a miserable holiday worrying about it.

WHAT TO LOOK FOR: Firstly look for a clean enviorment, NO catteries dont all stink of cats..!!?? In fact most really good ones dont smell of cats at all..!!

Ask to see EXACTLY where your cat will go and ask to see all acommodation. Ask about what is fed, and when, and if your cat has special needs make sure the cattery is willing to comply BEFORE you book him in. Please dont turn up on the day with special needs that the cattery may not be able to cater for at such short notice.

VET COVER: ask who is the emergency Vet for the cattery and what cover is in place for out of hours treatment and emergencies.

HEATING: ask about winter heating, and how long per day it is on for. Ask to look at the type of heating, is it safe and adiquate

Look at other cats that are boarding, do they look happy and relaxed, do staff seem knowledgable and seem to care.? Is the catttery run by the owners and does the owner make themself available to meet you, or is is run by staff, where it is only a job.

Look at litter trays of existing cat, do they look like they are cleaned out every day. Does the premises as a whole looked well cared for.

Cattery fees are all within a very close price range, you pay almost as much for a bad one as you do for a good one.? Look at several until you get the one you are happy to entrust you cat with.

Dalkeith Cats Hotel is proud of our cattery, clients may visit us with an appointment ( for safety and security in todays world) Monday-Friday 11-1pm. and at other times to suit, to ensure we are able to take the time to talk with you.

Please remember that as a working cattery normal daily duties are still being carried out even during your visit and we make no apoligies for that, Cats come first with us.

We are always happy to provided references from some of the hundreds of happy clients who entrust their cats to us.
